KOUROS by YVES SAINT LAURENT 100ml

This is an Aromatic Fougere fragrance for men. Kouros was launched in 1981. The nose behind this fragrance is Pierre Bourdon. Top notes are aldehydes, artemisia, coriander, clary sage and bergamot; middle notes are carnation, patchouli, cinnamon, orris root, jasmine, vetiver and geranium; base notes are honey, leather, tonka bean, amber, musk, civet, oakmoss and vanilla.

As a fragrance, Yves Saint Laurent intended to conceive a “perfume for a living god”. Kouros, as a product concept, inspires the athletic aesthetics of the male body, in an appeal to sensuality. It is dedicated to a generic man, but a manly one, triumphant, and sure of his power.

Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent is animalistic and has features of chypre perfumes. It is essentially timeless and expresses masculinity in the terms of Ancient Greece. Aldehydes are in the foreground. Metallic, watery, sharp, clearly in the style of years gone by. This is Kouros’ hallmark, its impossible to forge staple. The green, covered by moss layer gives the blend a primordial masculine character. The green accords present in the mixture are cold and surrounded by gray sage. The base, on the other hand, gains a little bit of resinous, warm amber tones.

KOUROS by YVES SAINT LAURENT 100ml Review

ALL PERFUMES ARE FAR FROM EQUAL

We offer NZ’s best prices for a discerning market. Enjoy prices that are a cut above bargain basement and well below department stores. Our fragrances are the genuine article, but it is the integrity or quality of the perfume that matters. There are many reasons why perfumes spoil, often well before they are purchased by the consumer. Heat is the biggest culprit (that we term baked, like wine).

FROM WHOLESALER TO RETAILER

Many perfume discounters use sea freight for a month or so without climate control in a metal container ( New York to Auckland) plus however long they sit on the dock. At Designer Direct we only use Air Freight. Costly but your nose will love you.

CLIMATE CONTROL

The cheaper the fragrance, the less of a bargain you’re getting, and the more likely it was stored with a lack of climate-controlled warehousing. Both our NZ stores where we ship orders from have climate control.
