OPIUM POUR HOMME by YVES SAINT LAURENT 100ml

The original spicy, oriental fragrance for men, created by Jacques Cavallier for Yves Saint Laurent, in 1995.

The provocative, mysterious scent of Opium Pour Homme is an homage to the Orient, a place of endless inspiration for Monsieur Saint Laurent. An intense fusion of exotic notes black currant, galangal, star anise interact with warmer ones of earthy cedar and amber; both summoning a sense of the mystical and grounding in the here and now. The power in the finish: Sichuan pepper stirs an inescapable quality

A lighter concentration of the exotic, spicy Opium scent.

The deep and intense fragrance highlights the sensuality of an Oriental fragrance as mythical as it is mysterious.

Top notes: Blackcurrant and star anise.

Heart notes: Galanga and pepper.

Base notes: Tolu balsam, atlas cedar and bourbon vanilla

English model & actor Rupert Everett was the face that launched it.

About the Brand

The history of the House of Saint Laurent is a colourful one, defined specifically by its founder’s Le Smoking tuxedo and Hedi Slimane’s brand overhaul. This is what makes the Parisian fashion label so culturally significant.

When Yves Saint Laurent founded his namesake fashion house in 1961 he introduced a revolutionary take on women’s clothing. Inspired by the structure of menswear and the feeling of power that came with wearing it, his approach was a celebration of gender fluidity that shook the fashion industry. Since then, the likes of Alber Elbaz and Hedi Slimane have interpreted Saint Laurent’s vision for the brand, and it’s Anthony Vaccarello who now sits at the label’s helm.

ALL PERFUMES ARE FAR FROM EQUAL

We offer NZ’s best prices for a discerning market. Enjoy prices that are a cut above bargain basement and well below department stores. Our fragrances are the genuine article, but it is the integrity or quality of the perfume that matters. There are many reasons why perfumes spoil, often well before they are purchased by the consumer. Heat is the biggest culprit (that we term baked, like wine).

FROM WHOLESALER TO RETAILER

Many perfume discounters use sea freight for a month or so without climate control in a metal container ( New York to Auckland) plus however long they sit on the dock. At Designer Direct we only use Air Freight. Costly but your nose will love you.

CLIMATE CONTROL

The cheaper the fragrance, the less of a bargain you’re getting, and the more likely it was stored with a lack of climate-controlled warehousing. Both our NZ stores where we ship orders from have climate control.
